Staffing

In order to accomplish the task of the Central Office,  public prosecutors and judges are assigned here, being delegated to the Central Office with their prior agreement from the Lands. Nowadays, the staff of the Central Office consists - beside the head of the office - of seven investigators from Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Bremen, Lower Saxony,  Saxony-Anhalt and the Saarland.

Moreover, there are altogether 12 other members of staff working at the Central Office: Due to the close collaboration with authorities abroad, two interpreters (for Russian and Polish) also belong to the staff of the Central Office as well as the required personnel for the evaluation of the files for the central file, the overview of the proceedings and the general administrative procedures.

Between 1967 and 1971, the largest workload was to be dealt with and more than 600 preliminary investigations were to be conducted at the same time. At that time, 121 members belonged to the staff of the Central Office, among them 49 public prosecutors and judges.
